A reminder of how close we live to wildlife

This picture was taken by Hana Struss on January 30, 2008 out the front door of her house.
The cat looked at me and was not scared at all. He just slowly walked away.
We've had some discussions around the neighbourhood about these cat spottings ...Is this a lynx or a bobcat? Please respond to the poll on the main page!

Hey, this is sort of a trick question! According to Wikipedia, the Bobcat (Lynx rufus) is a member of the same genus as the Canadian Lynx (Lynx canadensis). Lately we've seen sightings of a similar cat here on our property in Kentucky--must be the Year of the Cat!

Ah! Good point. Same genus but 2 different species?
1. Bobcat (Lynx rufus)
2. Canadian lynx (Lynx canadensis)

Like I know what I'm talking about! I think I need to go back to Zoology 101 :-) I guess the poll should say *Canadian* lynx but now that the votes are rolling in I can't change it.

I say Lynx. His tail looks like its long -- just sort of swooshing to the side in the photo. A Bobcat has a short tail. Ok, that's all I know about Bobcats.

I voted lynx, but after see what they say in elementary school, I'm not so sure anymore!
