Lost dogs

Do you recognize these dogs? They have been hanging around Lac Le Jeune Park Drive West for 3 days. Both are very friendly, healthy, well trained, and are obviously good pals. They both respond to the name "hey" :-)

Chris Wingenbach checked with the SPCA, arranged for an announcement on radio NL, knocked on doors... but no luck so far. If you can offer a home with a fenced yard so we can keep these dogs safe until the owner is found that would be appreciated! Leave a comment on the blog or email/call Sylvia (sylvia@webbedfeat.com, 250-377-0063)

Any luck finding the owners yet? I hope so! Have you checked for any ID? Obviously a collar with a name tag or check inside both ears for a tattoo. A tattoo may also be found on the inner flank, close to the midline of the body on the hind end. I'm sorry I don't have a fenced yard but I can certainly help out with dog food if needed:-) Please let us know when the owners are found. Sonia

Dogs are also sometimes equipped with microchips which are inserted under the skin. A vet or possibly SPCA would be able to read the chip which would give owner information etc...

Thanks Sonia and Debby. No luck yet :-( The dogs are now at the Kamloops city pound (SPCA was full). We couldn't find tattoos, but didn't think about the possibility of microchips. Hopefully someone will adopt both of them together because they really are good buddies. Meanwhile we'll keep trying to get the word out! I also plan to check that there is communication between SPCA + pound locations in surrounding areas. I imagine there would be but the lost/found search on the SPCA website doesn't look like it has been updated, so who knows.

The dogs are still at the pound and have not been claimed. Unfortunately, the SPCA is not listing the animals in their Lost/Found database. This makes no sense whatsoever. We took the animals there first, but there was no room so they ended up in the hands of Bylaw Kamloops. I've contacted the pound and the SPCA to get information and to connect the 2 offices about these lost dogs. I received voice mail today from the Kamloops SPCA manager to say the dogs are not in "their care" and I should be contacting Bylaw Kamloops. He then proceeded to give me the phone number:"Try this number. I think it's..."

Why don't they handle all lost animals the same way so the owners can find them? Why isn't there communication between the SPCA and the pound? Very frustrating!

Frustrating indeed!! I'm hoping for the best for these two anyway!
