Dear pathetic adults

Did you enjoy your day of snowmobiling and tobogganing at the Lac Le Jeune ski hill? You forgot to be a good role model for your kids.

Thanks for posting the photos. Such disregard for those of us who make this our HOME! Wish I had taken a photo of the beer bottles strewn on a street in the subdivision. Residents need to advise their visitors that there are staging areas for snowmobiles. NOT IN OUR NEIGHBOURHOOD. The plow could not get down our street the other evening due to all the trucks. Another resident could not get into his parking area.

Good to see the above note from RCMP. The snowmobiles that turned in my driveway were not displaying any decals. They said they did not realize it was required….nor did they realize they were in a neighbourhood or on a public road. I asked them if they had seen that there were many homes all lit up with Xmas lights. No response to that question. I wonder if some of the problems this wkd came from visitors at the “ LLJ Wilderness Resort”? Good to see an increased presence of RCMP.

From a long time resident who hates to see such carelessness and disrespect for LLJ.

I, too, am a long time resident of Lac Le Jeune, (31 years) and have, in approximately the last 10 years, seen this community change from one where there was no noise, light or garbage pollution to one where some neighbours and their friends feel it is their right to throw garbage on the streets and on our trails, to leave bright lights on so that we are no longer able to see the northern lights and require blackout curtains to have a restful sleep. Snowmobiles and ATVs are used on the roads and walking or skiing in our trail system has become problematic (Gus Johnson trail is an exception). In the summer we have to dodge mud holes and in the winter the entire trail is taken up by snowmobile tracks. Anyone who may still use those trails to ski will have the tracks they set obliterated. This is a nice place to live or we would not have been here as long as we have been but, please, respect your neighbours; turn off your outside lights (if they are on for security reason change them to ones with motion detectors); pack any garbage home and teach your children to do the same; stay off our roads with your off-road vehicles and do not ruin the trails for people who like to walk, snowshoe or ski on them.

As an owner of LLJ Wilderness Resort, I can tell you that none of my guests (so far) have brought snowmobiles with them and they have only talked about how wonderful the x country skiing is here. Please do not assume it was our guests that caused these problems over the past weekend unless you have some sort of proof. You sound very blameful and I find that to be very disrespectful to myself and my guests. We are a part of this community now and want nothing more than everyone to respect it and enjoy it.

Thanks for the clarification, LLJ Wilderness Resort! I don't think Bev's comment was meant the way you read it -- just trying to figure out why this is happening in our peaceful community!

In any case, your comment prompted me to check your website. I actually didn't even know about your cabins for rent... and a restaurant, and more! For others: http://www.laclejeunewildernessresort.com/

My apologies for wondering about your resort. The original information published on LLJ Wilderness Resort talked about snowmobiling and ATV right from the front door!.....accessing miles of "private" trails. On the wkd in question my biggest concern was the mess left on the private land at the old ski hill. There were a lot of people and a lot of snowmobiles.....and a big mess of garbage left for someone else to clean up.
Your website is now quite realistic and I commend you for renewing it with current information.

Thank you for the mention of the overuse of outdoor lighting. We also prefer to see the stars at night lighting the skies not the yard lights.
