Building a fence? Here's some advice

purple flowers, chain-link springI have just completed an 8' high chain-link fence around our garden because the deer were eating whatever we tried to grow. I received cost estimates of $2900 and $2700 for the complete job. By buying and transporting the material myself, providing an experienced fence builder with a bit of help when two persons were required and doing the clean-up myself, I saved about half the cost of the job. The experienced chain-link fence-builder is Peter Baynes (250-682-4428) who I highly recommend, if you need to build a good chain-link fence. Peter will provide advice on the material needed as well as doing all of the one-man part of the construction for $40 an hour and will provide a free estimate of his labour cost. If you can provide the assistance needed when more than one man is required, provide the material and do the clean-up yourself, you will save yourself a considerable sum. It can be the difference between $120 and $40 an hour on the labour involved.
