Who does stuff like this?

LOCATION: Big Bay (on the beach with the bench)

DATE: During the weekend -- July 12 and/or 13

FOUND: Save On shopping bag (fabric, new), several empty zip lock bags, aluminum foil, beer cans and bottles, Johnsonville weiners, cigarette butts, folding camping chair, roasting fork.

What you don't see in this collection of images is the photo of the campfire site -- the same location that has been used in the past few weeks. These individuals might be interested in this:

Illegal dumping on local forest service road

To the person/ persons who dumped tree limbs, stumps, large pieces of logs at the side of the road during the past week, you were seen and you need to clean it up.

Once a person dumps refuse others think it is OK to dump other things like construction waste, carcasses, household garbage and soon there is a BIG mess. It then gets cleaned up by the locals that frequent the area, or by TNRD. If you show up on their cameras you might get a bill or a fine.

The vehicle was a gray or beige station wagon, pulling a utility trailer. The plates may have been from out of province. The vehicle returned to the Water Street area.

There is a composting site in Logan Lake and in Kamloops. Local residents can dump limbs etc. at the ski hill but must have permission from Derick MacDonald at the Lodge. There is no excuse for dumping in the woods.

Close call

careless person

This time the careless person was a Lac Le Jeune resident, who was seen throwing a cigarette out of a car window into a ditch along the main street. This time we were lucky there were no flames.

Litter

Know anybody who drinks Kirkland chocolate milk? They have some cleaning up to do on one of the LLJ beaches. Let's hope the people who do this don't plan to have kids.

Illegal Dumping

Last week a pile of construction trash was found in the Melba Creek area. It has been dumped there in the last 6-8 weeks. The trash looks like it is from a bathroom renovation. There are pieces of dark reddish coloured wood, some kind of greenish foam or tiles, drywall material, empty buckets of grout, pieces of light coloured ceramic tiles etc. The CO office ( RAPP) and TNRD were notified. That is the process we are supposed to follow if an illegal dumping site is found. TNRD’s clean up contractor will be cleaning it up this week. There is also a large piece of beige coloured carpet and underlay that was dumped in the same area this past spring. It will also be removed. Hopefully they will find some sort of identification and the dumper will be prosecuted. The illegal dumps in this area are usually found to be from someone in the Logan Lake- LLJ area. If you have had work done recently….or plan to, please ensure your construction waste is being disposed of properly by the people you hire.

In the summer of 2010 a couple of squatters lived in the Melba Creek area. There was quite a mess left. A group of us did remove some refuse but the bulk of it was cleaned up this summer by unknown persons. They did an amazing job… I think they even mowed the grass. I met one of the fellows involved and he was part of a group of dirt bikers, some of them from Merritt. Wish we could thank all of them.
