Overlander Ski Club - Early Bird Registration

You have until November 15, 2021 to register for a pass that includes unlimited ski and snowshoe access for the Overlander Ski Club 2021-2022 season.

Reminder about snowmobiling around Lac Le Jeune

Snowmobile tracks in the park

Snowmobiles are not allowed in any Provincial Park. They are not allowed on public roads either. In our area they are not allowed on the Gus Johnston Trail or the Stake Lake Trails.

The fine for diving snowmobiles in these areas is a minimum of $575.00. Please ensure your friends, relatives or renters are aware of this law when they are here. Thanks you!

The Stake Lake Ski Trails opened today! It's a late start to the season and the classic tracks aren't set but you are able to skate on several of the trails. Until conditions improve day tickets are 50% off.

Polarthon Revival Event

Event - Polarthon Revival - Winter Triathlon (Note: Due to ice conditions this event is now a duathlon) 

Organizer - River City Racers Speed Skating Club

Event Date - January 23, 2016

Location - Stake Lake, BC

This is a winter triathlon, originally hosted in Logan Lake but moved to Stake Lake this season so the new winter triathlon format of the International Triathlon Union (ITU) can be realized. The winter triathlon today is about where the summer triathlon was in the 1970’s and 80’s.  An idea - but an idea that has caught on fire in some communities - especially Quebec - where this year they are hosting Winter Triathlon World Cups.

The mission statement of the Polarthon is to promote healthy outdoor winter activity that can be enjoyed by the whole family and to introduce young and older to the emerging sport of Winter Triathlon.  

Food Bank Day - Free Skiing

Head over to Stake Lake for free cross-country skiing on Sunday, February 8. Instead of purchasing a trail pass, bring a donation to the Food Bank. Here is the top 10 list of foods they are always looking for:

Canadian Masters National Cross Country Ski Championships

Some big events coming to Stake Lake!

The Canadian Masters National Cross Country Ski Championships, hosted by the Overlander Ski Club will be held February 8 - 14, 2015. This event welcomes up to 500 skiers from across North America.

Here’s the competition schedule for the week:

Monday, 9 February 10:00 am. 10km and 20km Long Distance Classic
Tuesday 10 February Skiers day off Skiing/Exploring Kamloops
Wednesday 11 February 10:00 am. 5km and 10km Short Distance Classic
Thursday: 12 February 10:00 am. 5km and 10km Short Distance Skate
Friday: 13 February Skiers day off Skiing/Exploring Kamloops
Saturday: 14 February 10:00 am. 10km and 20km Long Distance Skate

The Masters will be followed by the Overlander Loppet on February 15. The Loppet has a rich history in the community and has always been a very successful event with over 200 participants taking part in the 30 km skating race.

This video from Solomon Freeski TV is about designing winter playgrounds. The video reviews the changing face of ski areas through the eyes of one of the world's leading ski resort designers.

Beginning at approximately 1:00 you'll see some shots of the old Lac Le Jeune ski hill, in the context of the decline of mom and pop operations.

"They weren't thinking big, they weren't thinking globally. They were just thinking about their small piece of land at that time and 'what could we do to make some money'? You have to run a lot of business through these small mom and pop operations in order to just turn the lights on."

Overlander Ski Club Registration

Registration is now open for the Overlander Ski Club 2012/2013 Ski Season! 60 kilometres of groomed trails, including night skiing, dog trails, snowshoe trails, terrain park for the kids, hot chocolate in the day lodge.. and the occasional moose spotting. Best deal around!

2012 Overlander Loppet

The 2012 Overlander Loppet is coming up! Come out to watch and cheer on the skiers Saturday, March 3.

The kids (up to 13 years) start at 10 a.m., and everybody else at 11 a.m.

2012 Polarthon

Time to form your teams and register for the 2012 Polarthon! This is an annual fun event suitable for teams of all ages and skill levels. All you need to do is skate, ski, and run... oh and crazy costumes are also encouraged.

Keep your receipts from Natures Fare! Drop them off at the Overlander Ski Club Lodge and 3% of what you spend in the store will go toward the youth ski team. Easy!

Overlander Ski Club Update

Here's an update from Dwayne Geiger of the Overlander Ski Club.

The chill is in the air and the ski season is right around the corner. In preparation for what is shaping up to be another great season please note the following important reminders: 

• This Saturday: October 29th, 2011, Ski/Winter Swap Heritage House, Upper Lounge 100 Lorne St. Drop Off: 8:30 - 10:00 am. Doors Open: 10:15 am. Sales close at Noon. Volunteers always appreciated. Contact: Dana dmanhard@shaw.ca 

• Overlander Trail Clean Up and Maintenance Day November 5. Set aside a few "healthy" hours. For more information see website updates.
